Released in 2021 by Netflix, Squid Game is a South Korean thriller, drama and social commentary series, created by Hwang Dong-hyuk.

The plot revolves around 456 people in debt and financially desperate who receive a mysterious invitation to participate in a children's game competition. The prize for the winner is 45.6 billion won (approximately US$38 million).

However, the participants soon discover that the games have a deadly consequence: whoever loses is eliminated with their own life.

The protagonist is Seong Gi-hun (Player 456), a debt-ridden man who sees the competition as his last chance to change his life. Throughout the episodes, he forms bonds and rivalries with other players as he tries to survive the brutal games and uncover the secret behind the organization.
